Previous thread: https://boards.4channel.org/lit/thread/16912593/lit-quarterly#bottom_r

Good morning.

I had meant to tend the last thread, but I went astray for the evening. I will make an effort every now and again to post a thread, so that unaware anons can be made aware of the quarterly's existence.

The purpose of this thread is simply for discussion. If you have read the quarterly, share your thoughts on the pieces. Moreover, if you haven't submitted a story, give it a try. Anons bemoaned the lack of /lit/izens in the recent edition. It seems to me this can only be rectified if you write something meritorious.

I should clarify that I am not KMD. If he is about, he will respond. Most questions you might have can be answered here: http://litquarterly.ca/

As it happens, I think the same. The Siren in particular had a really nice style to it.

Bumping for support. Thanks for doing this, ill likely subscribe once I have a permanent address.

If KMD is on, what is your rejection criteria? If you like the poem, but the meter is off on one line, do you just reject it or send it back for a quick rework?

>> No.16921013

>>16920172
There's no uniform or explicit acceptance or rejection criteria. It depends on:
>how your poem reads/sounds
>how it compares and/or complements other poems in the book
>the actual content and substance of the poem itself
On poems that we really like by find one or two minor errors/hiccups in, we'd reach out to the author for a line or word change and, if they approve of our suggestions or offer a better alternative, we usually move forward. It's a tricky, rushed process sometimes too.

Would you be interested in a series of famous poems - let's say, 10 or so - translated from the Portuguese, with very brief elucidatory comments on the poets and the poems themselves?

We have been, but I've received about 400 emails in the last three weeks so I'm going to wrap up submissions for a while in the next couple weeks. To clarify, submissions received between June and September are being read and selected from right now for a February release. All submissions received after 30th September are in consideration for Spring 2021.

Why my good man, it's this:

Green lines cast by protesters' laser pointers cross the darkened lobby of the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse as federal officers wait for a possible skirmish with demonstrators Friday, July 24, 2020, in Portland, Ore. The beams, which can damage eyes, are routinely aimed at U.S. Marshals guarding the courthouse. On the streets of Portland, a strange armed conflict unfolds night after night.
