>In the modern world, it is, quite literally and unironically, impossible to live by the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament without severely incapacitating my way of life and coming off as an aloof prude to everyone I interact with.
How do I reconcile with this fact?

I sometimes think about the fact that any king or politician that truly followed the word of Jesus would never stay in power long.

Isn't the whole point of Christianity that you're supposed to take this on the chin and not compromise your faith even if it means persecution?

Nobody's actually living according to Jesus' principles, my dude. Jesus advocated a complete abandonment of material wealth to live as an evangelist. The first thing the Apostles set about doing after his death was figuring out how to monetize their evangelism.

I don't agree with Jesus' teachings but I deeply respect anyone who lives by the principles he abides to no matter what. Almost all christians I have met try to get all obscure and complicate the subject when I ask them whether they truly believe that a man rose from the dead which is the most basic tenant of their faith. It seems you OP are the same as them.

If you think the historical veracity of Jesus' resurrection is in any way important and troubles significantly any major christian church, then I'm not sure you understand anything about christianity

It doesn't even take Jesus. Having any ethics or principles is a guarantee that you will fail at life.

That's what I thought at my early to mid 20's. I thought that abiding by any moral principles would only set me back and at a disadvantage against those who didn't believe in anything
