Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience by William Blake are a great place to start imo.

Just go for something that interests you. The first poetry I ever read on my own was fuckin the complete poems of W.B Yeats, which probably isn't the best place to start, but I enjoyed it enough to properly get into poetry. Maybe just get a fat anthology if you can't decide on one person straight away and just read more of whoever you like most from there.

Unironically start with Shel Silverstein.
