Has anyone read Manufacturing Consent? I know Naom Chomsky is eyeroll tier, but I've been recommended this every time I ask for books on propaganda and how propaganda and politics interact.

I'm about half way through it. It's a huge drag, but it's very informative.

If you want to learn about media propaganda then it's easily to most comprehensive.

Chomsky's also dope. Dont let some contrarian edgefag or conspiratard keep you from obtaining knowledge.

Chomsky is a ficking legend

>here is a propaganda model
>I will now spam a bunch of tl;dr factoids about various political happenings to illustrate the point you already understood by page 10

This is extremely good advice

I've only watched the documentary, which I kind of feel fits the narrative better in an ironic sense.

basic rundown:
>propaganda bad, us gov. bad
>not because muh jews, but because they hire people who already agree with what they want to push
>now here's a bunch of examples for most of the book

I knocked it out in two days. If you want to learn about the propaganda model, you can basically figure it out by summary on the internet, but the read is good if you want to be able to explain it to people, or if you want a guide on how to get news through media now that you know the style of propaganda.

Listening to a chomsky talk has gotten me interested in linguistics, does anyone know of a good jumping off point to get into it?
