i tend to do first drafts in pen making no scratched or anything or strikes. then I write the second draft on a keyboard, but with out looking at the paper at all, this allows me to add much more to my original piece

For editing purpose, keyboard is obviously the most effective way to go. However, it can be good to write some chapter drafts on paper, it's just nice to alternate medium. It can help for getting into writing mood.

I often print my work and then takes note on it with a pen for further editing, it helps me getting a global view of my stories.
