i've read the wikipedia-article about it multiple times, but there are so many different interpretations by different people that i can't really wrap my head around it?

Nous is the divine intellect, the essence in which all the ideas (or forms) of the intellect are stored, the first emanation of the One that is indirectly generated through an "outburst" of intellectual essence within the One, it is also the Demiurge which crafted the physical universe as a flawed image or copy of the transcendental intelligible universe.
