So /lit/

Read Slaughterhouse-Five and loved it. Went to the library to pick up another Vonnegut, but Cat's Cradle wasn't there and that was the only other one I remember /lit/ telling me I should check out before Breakfast of Champions.

Anyways, so I picked up one from him that I had never heard of, "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater." I was mildly interested for about three chapters, then I suddenly stopped reading and I haven't been compelled to resume.

Should I give up on it, or is it worth it to finish this particular title?

Slaughterhouse-Five is the only half decent book by Vonnegut.

Haven't read that one in particular, but pretty much my experience with vonnegut in general is that none of his books are too much of a slog, most of them I've read in 1-2 days.

My advice to you sir, is to pick it back up again and get another few dozen pages in, you'll probably be able to sink it easily.

I found Slaughterhouse-Five to be Vonnegut's most literary work next to Cat's Cradle. God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater and Breakfast of Champions are very entertaining compared to Vonnegut's other works. You really can't go wrong with Vonnegut, though. I'd finish GBYMR if I were you just because it has a great twist at the end.

There are two rules to literature. Never leave a book unfinished and always read a poem twice.

Oh I do love twists. Leaving thread before spoilers.

I think The Sirens of Titan is right up there with Cat's Cradle, Slaughterhouse-Five, and Breakfast of Champions.

Slaughterhouse five is a garbage book written by a dirty treacherous communist, who associated with lots of communist jews, and was members of organizations of communist jews.

Dude, I read God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, and I really liked it. I'd put it ahead of most of the minor Vonnegut. It's no Slaughterhouse-Five or Cat's Cradle, but it's worth a read.
