I've read all of Murakami novels except for 1Q84 (I'm reading it right now and it's a big pile of garbage), one of my favorite is probably colourless Tsukuru because it's story is pretty much the story of my life. Why is NW so special to you?

I don't really care if people shit on it on here.
It has in my opinion:
Great prose, some of the best i've read at some points.
Good characters, with Kohler in particular being one of the most fascinating ones i've ever read.
Great story structure and themes, the book shifts between present and past in very fluid and organic ways. The way the book presents the past is also incredible, with a pervading nostalgic feeling. Many pages about his childhood are very beautiful.
The Themes of the book are very interesting, and the book can be analyzed and interpreted in various ways.
Also the book hits home with some things I can directly relate to, the alcoholic mother, the strict mean father, the self-loathing, etc. The way the book decides to present these things are also very well done.

I could not care less if pseuds who didnt finish the first 80 pages shit on the book.

Admittedly haven't read many books and it probably shows. Addled internet mind and all that.
Loved reading these, though. Unfortunately I'm a complete internet addict and those occasions that I read obsessively are becoming somewhat rare. I need to reset my brain.
Any recs would be much appreciated because I need to read something and be excited about it. The feeling of being immersed in a good book is incomparable and I crave that high right now.
