Like, contemplating finding the author and beating her with it, sucked. £2 for the hard back version. Biggest rip of my life.

Also Catcher in the Rye and every book based on a video game ever.

This fucking book, and all other Victorian bull shit.

(Jules Verne excluded)

IJ you think is great, but you don't like Catch-22 or Slaughterhouse Five?
What the fuck is wrong with you? IJ shares the same exuberance for the bizarre that makes those two classics.

>> No.1681861

>>1681854
Qualifying that, I think Slaughterhouse Five is slightly better than Catch-22.

IJ for me is more complicated and emotional. It also had far more to say about modern culture.

Catch-22 was really just endless examples of bizarre irony and paradoxes.

Dickens, Kipling, Hardy, Wilde, Stevenson?

Also Verne isn't Victorian.

>> No.1681891

>>1681885
Kipling and Hardy are overrated.

Dickens is hit or miss.

>> No.1681892

Ricochet River. We read it because it was supposedly an Oregonian classic in the making. Terrible, not a single person in class liked it. And then the author came in and talked about it. Most awkward class ever, nobody said anything for fear of offending him.
Also every book Scarsdale listed is great.

>> No.1681911

correction OP: ITT books that you think really really suck

why do you even make a thread like this? Are you trolling? Most people who've read this book love it. Why not make a thread asking why people thought IJ was good or bad? Stupid
