I hope this is on topic but I love a lot of different authors. How does one rank authors? I feel like I don't know how to go about it. Do I think pit an author's best work with another authors until I'm left with my favorite book and then see if their other work is on par with their best? Or do I pick the ones that I've read the most of? My favorite personalities? The ones who I think write better than anybody? The ones who influence my writing?
