ITT: Books /lit/ meme'd you into reading

I'm already in book 3, just after Tengo goes back home after visiting his father for 2 weeks. Nothing happens. The last Ushikawa chapter was him visiting Aomame and Tengo's old school and learning the information we, as readers, know since the first chapters of book 1. I like Murakami's style, helps getting into the head of the protagonists. But that's it.
