The people who do the covers usually haven't even read the book. The cover usually has nothing to do with the actual contents. Hence why you should not judge a book by its cover.

Unironically I think this is going to happen in the next ~20 years. Every other wall has been broken down.

I did, actually. Some anon finally shared an ebook version years ago. I liked it enough, though it was more lascivious than Lolita I didn't find it erotic for some reason. My favorite thing about it, actually, was the descriptions of the small town the main character stays.

can I get a brief summary (no spoilers)? Is it worth reading if I liked Lolita?

>> No.16769278

>some dude is staying in a ratty-ass cabana in the outskirts of this poor European village for some reason
>he is called "the outsider"
>this little girl plays near his cabana
>he gets her to come inside and hang out
>she takes off her pants and he fingerbangs her
>tells her not to tell anyone
>she brings a friend later
>eventually the man becomes a staple in the town and people warm up to him
>he visits one of the family's houses and get involved in their affairs
>comes to and from the town but always looks forward to coming back now
>his fiance or somebody from his hometown comes to visit him at the cabana
>she gets in on the fun, too with the girl and her friend that come over and they have a foursome
>eventually the man leaves town for whatever reason

That's about all I remember. It's a much different book from Lolita and I think Lolita is better even though I'd figured I'd like this more.

Australia is pretty strict with its censorship laws. They're the exception.

Having something being banned for offensiveness is not as normal as being arrested for reading that something.

It's taking such a long time because little girls are threats to older women. That's why there's so much resistance from them.
Even fucking little boys has been more normalized than age gap relationships between girls and adults man.
Proof of this is that penalty for homosexual age gap relationships with minors has been reduced in US, the most sexually prudish country.
Anyway I take the ancient greek view for all this, which is that fucking a free boy yet to reach manhood is degrading, while girls should be marrying young so they can form strong bonds

Australians are generally very conservative, even though they like to pretend otherwise. Most books that were previously banned had the bans removed in the 70s though. We still do have weird shit like when bookstores sell American Psycho it has to be wrapped in plastic on the shelves (so kids can't read it I guess) and you need to be 18+ to buy it.

same in russia but only for bookstores, which are for faggots anyways. sane people use bookinist booths and online marketplaces where people sell their stuff.

>> No.16769861

>>16769826
Yeah, prior to the internet Australia could get away with having strict censorship control on books by controlling what gets through customs, but the last remaining restrictions are basically meaningless now. Even with the American Psycho example, bookstores only actually follow the rules about half the time.

>His third novel, American Psycho (1991), was his most successful;[5] upon its release, the literary establishment widely condemned it as overly violent and misogynistic.[6] Though many petitions to ban the book saw Ellis dropped by Simon & Schuster, the resounding controversy convinced Alfred A. Knopf to release it as a paperback later that year.
