How good is the penguin abridged edition of Edward Gibbon’s Decline and Fall of Rome compared to the 6 volume set?

I picked up a copy for a dollar at a used sale, but dunno if it's worth my time, that shit would take me weeks at my normal rate.

Don't be a cheap pleb, get the Everyman's Library edition.
Even if you don't read the whole thing, it's a good reference. There's some interesting stuff in there that you won't find on Wikipedia
