Art is dead. It's over. You will never see a great work of art in your lifetime, all that remains of art is ghosts.

that's a meme. there's always that new kid who hasn't caught up with the canon and therefor needs to establish a fake sense of elitism by saying something dumb like "I don't read anything written after Shakespeare / after 1850 / after 1900 / after 1950 / after 1970 / after 1999 / after 2010..."

>Has contemporary literature stagnated?
No. The market has always been full of shit. There are still masters and prodigies producing books of genuine literary merit.
>Where does it have to go from here?
Movements and stuff that will be dominant the next few months are New Sincerity, Po-Mo, Nu-Mo, Social Justice Literature, Trump-years literature, therapeutic self-help type poetry, political biographies, and quarantine-themed books.

check the wiki for charts. there are several with post-2000 lit. Bleeding Edge or Submission are popular, others are more controversial, and once in a while people post a recently published favourite.

Houellebecq, fuck that incel hack.

I've literally never seen this discussed here.

>Houellebecq has had sex
>Houellebecq’s characters tend to have sex
Cope harder loser. Just because an author is critical of sexual degeneracy in the Western world doesn’t automatically make him an incel. Also:

>Bleeding Edge
>Never seen it discussed here

not him, but he's right. Houellebecq's genius goes beyond just analysing European society's illnesses. he mocks everyone on the political spectrum. and Pynchon is the single most discussed author here, there are threads up right now, and if you'd make a Bleeding Edge thread, there would be at least four or five takers or more as seen in the past.

tl;dr: lurk more
