>> No.16739622

>> No.16739628

I was raised by folk completely detached from anything religious or spiritual, focused on work mostly
How do I find my way back?

Atheism is tantamous to having said nothing of value.

>> No.16739761

>Tantamous (also known as Old Jethro or John Jethro[1]:137) (c. 1580[2]–1676) was a well-known Native American Nipmuc leader in seventeenth century Massachusetts
Sounds like a chill guy

It can be. Just like books, religion can be escapism. especially if you're constantly searching for the "one" religion instead of practising a religion's tenets. Pick the religion most associated with your culture and live it. I would Most traditions will bring you closer to God and if nothing else provide a stable set of good-practices that leads to a decent and productive life. If only because it worked for your ancestors. Beats asking an anonymous basket weaving forum for advice

Everything is a cope. It's like calling God-belief Stockholm's syndrome; if your criteria is so lax, almost everything might as well be Stockholm's syndrome.

Yeah I hope you take it to heart punk.

the problem with claiming something is cope is in the reduction
truth is the aim. you false truth is cope
my real truth is truth
your false truth as cope is truth for my real truth
exchange the word truth and cope with each other in the aforementioned three lines
that's where meaning dissolves

Religion is no more cope than philosophy or atheism or hedonism

It is, however, objectively better than the alternatives

That probably depends on the religion (but that doesn't mean its wrong).

Na were literally gonna make a kingdom in Israel and disbelievers aren’t invited

>> No.16742188

I tried believing in god and it didn't work out for me. Sorry. I have an easy, decadent life, and have no need of any cope, unlike my dad, who seems to need religion just to hold on. He claims to love the Bible, but apparently only values it as a source text for trite self help lectures by a new age preacher. I have no need of such cope.

>> No.16742238

How exactly is atheism a cope? why is everyone ITT saying this

>> No.16742395

>>16739628
So, that would mean religion is a cope, wouldn't it? A cope for a tough life
