Hello there, /lit/erate people.
I have an existential question concerning to the pleasure of reading.
Let's say for X reasons you suffer a lesion on your head which damages certain areas of your brain. That brain damage made you unable to learn and understand abstract concepts with the consequence of not being able to read anything what is not non fiction.
How you will face this problem?
Just think about it, being able to enjoy The Simposium or Also spoke Zarathustra one day and the another almost unable to understand what the author is trying to say.

I can't even comprehend this scenario, my sense of self is so tied to my interaction with literature.

I suppose I would start dedicating myself to the hard sciences.

That brain damage made you unable to learn and understand abstract concepts.

That would do far more damage to your life than losing the ability to read fiction.
