When Guenon talks about masonry he usually means it in the sense of this true masonry and not the masonry you see prevalent today. He does this because these initiatic craft guilds are the closest thing we have in the west to initiation proper that is well known. Even if they are degenerated to the point of anti-tradition. It's explained in his prologue in 'Perspectives on Initation'.

I could be wrong but I'm just trying to honestly represent Guenon's view about masonry. His logic is coherent because he also says that there were once many craft initiations as well as Traditional sciences that both had metaphysical dimensions to it. Masonry is just prevalent in our minds because it survived to the modern era. Whereas many other such crafts and sciences didn't. I don't endorse masonry at all for obvious reasons and I admit I don't have enough historical information about masonry to come to an absolute conclusion about it. But I do think Guenon has some very interesting things to say about it.
