Is this the original incel novel?

>> No.16713323

No.
Fuck off

Nothing prior to the 1990s counts as "incel".

If by ”incel novel” you mean the monster is an incel for thinking that having Frankenstein build him a companion will mean that it will automatically love him and make him happy and not evil then yes

Idk, she was prly getting plowed by both her husband and Lord Byron. And the monster in the book is a dude.

That's an improper interpretation. The monster thought himself as Adam and Frankenstein as God and he (The monster) wanted an Eve, since that's what he thought he ought to want.

The monster is actually indeterminate gender, or genderless. He is more like a golem.

I thought that the allusion was more along the lines of God and Lucifer. There is (I think) one of Satan's lines from Paradise Lost at the front of the book and the monster talks about reading the poem while he's hanging out at the villagers' house.

>>16713399

No, he's not. He's obviously male because Frankenstein talks about how he's afraid the monster will have children with a female if he makes a female monster.

I always viewed the monster as transitioning from Adam into Lucifer. In Paradise Lost, if I remember correctly, Satan realizes after his failed assault against the Heavens that he stands no chance against God, but he would not quell his hatred for Him, so instead of attacking him directly, he would direct his wrath against his creation that he was so proud of, and which Satan despised for being so imperfect. In the same way, the monster decides to strike back against his creator, through his loved ones, which is why he kills one of his friends and has another one framed for the crime.

Pieces of a female did exist but were destroyed by Frankenstein.

Bachelor doesn't necessarily denote not being able to get laid.

You have an anachronistic worldview. "Incels" (oxymoron but whatever) literally didn't exist back then. Prostitution was not illegal not socially frowned upong. Women had much lower standards than now. Fucking was easy business.

I have studied demographics in the Modern Ages (16th to 18th century) and you'd be surprised to find out that between 10% and 20% of the population in Europe reached their old age in a state of celibacy, having never gotten married. Keep in mind that clergy was just 1% of the population. Now, out of marriage sex and childbirth was obviously a thing, but also tremendously rare. So, even if we took those numbers away, we still have a considerable amount of population who never got laid.

Celibacy is voluntary by definition. They didn't look at it wrongly the way we do know and they were more religious.

How many dudes do you think had land? If anything, women are probably getting fucked by more guys now and have lower standards because birth control is widely available and the stigma of getting dicked before you're married has largely gone away.

You guys think the Frankenstein monster wouldn't have killed all those people if he'd had sex?

>> No.16714931

It was seen as something bad. A man or a woman who reached a certain age married was the subject of gossip at least, and derision at worst. I don't know what the word in English is, but in Spanish "solterona" was a common way to mock women who had never married.
Also, "voluntary" is a relative term. There was a powerful social stigma against out of marriage sex, and anyone caught indulging in it risked social exclusion or, God forbid, they had a child, that kid would be deprived of many rights, such as inheritance and ownership of land. These were powerful deterrents. As for more religious, as I said, only 1% of the population was required to maintain celibacy. The rest, if they could not afford to marry and have children, they would remain single for the rest of their lives.

>> No.16714966

>>16714931
Celibacy means "abstention from sexual intercourse" and abstention means "the act or practice of choosing not to do or have something." All celibacy is voluntary by definition, therefore the term "incel" is an oxymoron. So not sure what you mean by "voluntary is a relative term." Also, the thread's about Frankenstein, that is, a book that came out in the 1800s where going to brothels and fucking whores was common. There were prostitutes to satisfy all sorts of budgets and tastes, just like now.
