What the fuck even is this book?
I've read it twice now and seen the movie a half dozen times, both sober and on LSD

None of it makes any cohesive sense. There was no point to any of it. I don't understand how this became such a classic because it really just feels like each chapter is completely disconnected from the last

this is like the book equivalent to the steam reviews that have 500 hours sinked into a game and then go on to warn you that it’s a waste of time

well haven't read it, but if that one popular monologue is anything of a thesis

it's supposed to capture decay and growing disillusionment with american culture
the nostalgia for youthful revolt and being a part of a cultural movement
hopefully in a self-aware cyclical capacity

You didn't figure out that they were looking for the "American Dream" and failed to find it among American corruption and perverted ideals symbolized by Las Vegas?
