The most overrated poet in the English language by far. I spent an entire summer memorizing the Norton anthology since I wanted the A+ for my application. I did it but his poems were the only ones were it felt like real work.
Everything else, from "a litany in time of plague" right down to "the wasteland" i can still recite from memory even now. But " ode on a Grecian Urn?" Ughh.
I worked my ass off that summer and really all through high school after my sibling got me excited about what a joy it was to take a class from Helen vendler. She was a bore.

So your elder 'sibling' enjoyed Vendler's class but you did not? She writes wonderfully on Stevens (there is perhaps no finer reader of his work) but is not so successful with Dickinson. Though that's not the extent of my reading of her that pretty much sums up what I think.
Keats is a wonderful poet; I'm a little sad that you weren't able to find access into him. Just out of curiosity, what's your impression of Spenser?

Which of his longer works are best? I like his odes and sonnets but not really sure where to go from there.

Three of the best five lyric poems in English are by Keats.
Greatest philosophical poet of the romantics (Coleridge's philosophical poems are word salads, Shelley's are platonist trash).
His letters are the most significant prose works any of the romantics wrote.
