Hey /lit/, I have to take care of my 7 year old Nephew because my brother and his wife or my sister-in-law can't fucking learn to put their petty bullshit aside and are constantly putting my nephew in harm's way.

As his uncle, how can I raise him to become cultured and well-read? I'm his favorite uncle and he listens and responds to me well.

Read the Hobbit outloud to him, then The Chronicles of Narnia. Don't bother with LOTR, if he wants to he'll read it when he gets older. Then turn him onto the Redwall books, supplement all of this with introducing him to Aesop's Fables, and the Greek myths. Also get some children's world history books, some children's science books, stuff like that.

Thank you anon, I'll do so. What about hobbies? He likes to paint and draw but I can't do neither very well, should I pay a tutor to teach him or would it ruin it for him?
