Why are female writers so much better than male ones, at least in Anglophone literature? For every movement and genre, the greatest authors are women. Woolf is peak modernism, Dickinson is peak poetry, George Eliot is peak realism, Charlotte Smith is peak Romanticism. Sure Joyce and Wordsworth and the rest are good, but they can't compare. It's not really like this with other language's literatures, so why is it so with English?
