If Gnostics believe that the universe is just a prison designed by the Demiurge to keep them out of Pleroma, how come they don't just kill themselves and go back to Sophia right away? I'd buy that they only stick around to help enlighten others, but every conversation they have is just jerking each other off about how much smarter they are than the hylics.

Gnosticism is a heresy that crops up every couple centuries. Cathars were also a breed of gnostic. As were Quakers. The spirituality of neoliberal capitalism is gnostic.

Dumb post, Quakers weren't gnostic and modern anti-natalism is based in hedonism and a positivist mindset.

Gnosticism is a lot deeper than the strawmen people make of it, and its appeal is what makes mainstream Christians so frightened, because it seems truth above all else. Even ugly truths.

I think Gnosticism is just a reaction to a cruel and seemingly unjust world. It's easy to shit on gnosticism as being antinatalist and angsty if you've lived a comfortable life, but outside the palace walls humans have had to endure horrible things, not to mention the seemingly cannibalistic nature that people often have towards their own fellow man
