Generally speaking, what percentage of people do the religious texts say end up in hell?

The scriptures simultaneously imply massa damnata and universal salvation, it's triggered the autistic for over 2000 years

Buddhist texts are 100%, except the transmigration of personality is disputed. But if we assume you mean "consciousness" for people, then 100%

Hinduism implies an original wholeness from which all departed and returns, Buddhism is the same in negative terminology, don't know about Islam though

How does hell fit into that? You make it sound like you return to the wholeness regardless of what you do in life

In this life the good see the wholeness as positive, the bad see it as terrifying. Good in itself is it's own reward, when the dreamer awakes all the cosmos will rejoice.

That's including the monks. Consciousness isn't individuated. Monks are an aspect of consciousness in general, but as they are part of a flow of consciousness that consciousness is in hell. TIme is an illusion, as is individuation, start to get the picture?

Let me rephrase the question:

What incentives do Hindu and Buddhist texts give for acting morally upright in this life? Is acting immorally "punished"?

>> No.16634784

>>16634758
so in hinduism "punishment" is in the form of reincarnation right, getting reincarnated in a hell realm or a god realm. also though there's the sense that theres sort of a circulation from the highest to the lowest, look into the story of Indra and the Ants.Act in accordance with dharma in this life, take a higher form in the next. Anyway all forms are emanations of the brahman. Then Buddhism comes along and says the goal or the real "heaven" if you like is to escape this process of going from low incarnations to high incarnations and back. so there's no punishment in buddhism but acting immorally (but really just acting out of either attraction, repulsion or ignorance) just hinders your ability to reach liberation. In a way the punishment is that you exist. Existence is suffering.

>Is acting immorally "punished"?
Acting immorally is it's own punishment. I know that Buddhists take into account how immoral acts effect your psyche and subconscious which leads to greater degrees of suffering, I believe it's similar in Hinduism with their karma system.Think of the world itself as a stage from which the dream is built upon, we can move it closer to paradise or hell with our actions, and all things work together to generate a large self image.

>> No.16634796

>>16634758
incentive is buddhism is reaching a state of unadulterated consciousness. merging with being so that you have no self and there's no one left to want things because everything you desire in the field of spacetime is inevitably going to turn into shit.

>morality
Is a cultural epiphenomena.

Buddhism is looking to remove the hell from ontology itself. Buddhism is ontic, not moral. Sure there are moral trappings around traditions, but that relates to setting up rape camps for peasant boys in feudalism. Much like Christianity isn't killing everyone in a city for pleasure.

Buddhism isn't about solving a moral problem leading to hell. Buddhism is a claim that all ontology is hell.
