Is it really worth reading?

genuinely no. but maybe yes so you can join me on my crusade against shit books like that one with no literary merit and no justified position on any sort of canon, whether based on aesthetic or moral or whatever criteria, it's shit.

Is this the book where they describe the one guy when he's at court as the kind of person you can tell doesn't bathe normally as he is oddly pink after prepping for court?

Not really, only for a sense of time in which it was set but there are better ways to get that. It's not a hard or long read and the imagery is good enough.

Reading for enjoyment lol

For YA it's A-tier - but when compared to actual literature it doesn't offer much. Atticus Finch deserves his reputation as a great character though.

It's a good recommendation for an 11 year old girl or 13 year old boy or any adult who wants something light but not completely brain dead.

If you're trying to indoctrinate school-children, absolutely. It's mandatory reading here.

In what way is it capable of indoctrination?

it's one of the few books of its kind that isn't inherently just WHITE BAD - and it is gradually getting fazed out in some schools by books like "The Hate You Give" - which definitely is just WHITE BAD

I was very disappointed in highschool when we read Lord of the flies instead of 1984. Then I was really disappointed a few years later when my brother went through high school and got to read it and no one in the class or the teacher understood it.

>this book is obviously about toxic masculinity. If it was all girls instead of boys, they would have all worked together and survived!
I assume that's what you mean - and yeah it's definitely disappointing because the meaning of the book is much more intriguing and deeper than that.

Where did this women work better together meme come from

Women equate incessant discussion with working well, regardless of the quality of the end product, which they're mostly unable to accurately judge

Recently they announced a new Lord of the Flies movie but with an all girl cast. Most of the negative reactions to the idea revolves around the idea that women would work together and never turn on each other like the boys do in the book.

I've seen criticism from leftists that it should be taken out from libraries because blacks aren't stronk enough

>> No.16627415

It's not that great, the plot is just incoherent. The ideas I do like, and Atticus is an S-tier character. Would I recommend it? No. Would I say it's important? Yes.
>>16626895
No way, really?

>> No.16627429

Atticus is a truly great character.
