Everyone has read so much more than me and is smorter than me I feel so left behind. I have over 400 books on my Amazon wishlist it's going to take me forever to get through. Meanwhile there are early 20 years olds that have 1000 books on their goodreads like wtf.

Froggy stop counting books, pages and comparing yourself to epeen larpers on book social media. The moment you get lost in a good book and realize what reading is about, this shit won't matter anymore. It's about the content and how it entertains and enriches you. Now go read and don't forget to enjoy yourself while you do it.

>> No.16613336

Reading slow is good. You understand more, you appreciate more, you enjoy more. Read slowly but deeply, and you will be surprised at how much you actually end up reading.

I have a 145 IQ, a 17 cm penis, I stay fit and am rather attractive as well. However, I find women to be a waste of time and have realized if you've had a relationship with one, you've had a relationship with them all. I'm just waiting to finish med school to move to south America and pick up a wife who will grant me multiple children whom I will homeschool as I tend to the poor and use my army experience to fend off rats.

Fren, dear fren. I know your struggle. I do all of this. I buy books that I promise I will read, then I am really disappointed in myself for not reading them.

You might want to ebay some of those that you have let collect dust as they will constantly remind you of the fact they are not finished. I did this and I also abandoned Goodreads and tracking apps and I don't even count stuff I have read any more.

Then I got an e-reader used off ebay and told myself, if I can download it off Libgen for free at some point then I will when I am ready.

I do not keep a list of books, but if I am interested in a book then I will just remember it. If my mental note is still there when I am looking for something new, then I download it. If the mental note has faded, I wasn't that enthusiastic about it at all. This means nothing accumulates and I have no guilt about obtaining it and getting excited for it, and then failing to read it.

I might go full e-reader soon, I dunno. But this has helped, as now I am not tied to an "achievement list" or anything.

Hope this helps, fren.

I do too, but I made this sacrifice so that I would not have to contend with the feelings of anxiety that a looming physical collection caused me.

Once you get past sunk cost fallacy, it is golden. The books you bought are still yours, they are just now physically removed from your presence and you can "regain" them any time by downloading from Libgen.

Trust me, you forget 95% of your library this way, and only the ones you are really interested in come back to you, which means it becomes totally manageable.

The guilt of never tackling them goes too. It is like donating a shirt you no longer wear to charity. You forget about it after a while and your new wardrobe becomes synonymous with your clothing, you don't pine for how good you used to look in that old shirt.
