There is definitely a lot of money in tech, but there's a lot of sacrifice in regards to your time and mental energy in devoting your life to it.

If you have never been interested in tech and are only thinking about it cause of the money, then your won't enjoy it and will be miserable. Try to introspect properly on what you want.

The question to ask yourself is, were you satisfied in life before you knew your friend was making so much money? Therefore causing you to compare.

Ask yourself: Are you in it for money or prestige? If you abandon ship and get into programming, you might be able to make more money and climb the corporate ladder to a certain degree. But you’ll likely always be helping fulfill someone else’s vision. If you stick with literature, however, you’ll probably make less money, but you’ll have the freedom to create as an individual and an artist. There’s always teaching and all that shit so you can make money while working on academic projects. (This, of course, is assuming you actually got something out of your studies and are a capable writer/academic now.) Take your pick, friend.

Then you're fucked, son. Start applying for jobs right now, and thinking of getting into a technical subject for a Master's (don't get a master's degree if you have to pay for it). I urge you to do this quickly, I'm currently 27, on my second year of law school. I did my B.A. in Classics and got "lucky" getting a master's in Latin in Portugal (not only didn't I pay tuition, I also received a monthly stipend). But the job market is literally impenetrable. Going to Academia is the only choice, but the 3-4 year commitment would eventually lead me to accept shitty post-doc positions or being an adjunct for several years. Please get a grip. I know Virgil is alluring, but he won't guide you through life under capitalism.

I go to a stateschool because I was a fuckup in highschool and testscores won't carry everything.

Anyways, in the US universities generally treat education like a product tailor fit for a consumer base. And the less tuition they can charge a low performing student, the less money the university makes in the end. So otherwise strict weedout classes often have support classes or generous curves to make sure the majority of students at least get a passing grade and can continue to the next semester.

I believe student advisors will recommend communications or "international studies" to similarly poor performing students so they can extract as much money as possible from the student. Divershitty degrees are similarly superfluous and clearly a money making scheme

The legal field is already over saturated with legitimate retards who attend schools like Cooley and Yale. The revolving door between certain schools with firms/non-profits (think of HLS and EJI) perpetuates the general unattainability of certain positions. 14,200 people take the NY Bar Exam alone in 2019, where a goodly amount of those are either applying to--or already received offers from-orgs/firms. Believe a woman, you will regret it; believe her not, you will also regret it… Hang yourself, you will regret it; do not hang yourself, and you will regret that too; hang yourself or don’t hang yourself, you’ll regret it either way; whether you hang yourself or do not hang yourself, you will regret both. Let me help you, since you seem to be severely retarded. You see these sliders? These are your on/off switch. Pick whatever color setting you want. Off? 6500K, max brightness. On? Anything less than that. The app actually has all the functionality you desire. You're simply too smoothbrained to understand the ui.

Thank you, again, for proving my point. You're either autistic and enjoy the autistic controls devised by the autistic creators, or you've just been inundated with non-user friendly non-simple technology and tools your whole life, and have thus come to expect such crap.

I'm in the same boat as you anon except I couldn't find a job and suffered unemployment for a few years so I fell into default and became ineligible for more course funding. It is very frustrating because I had already an expert understanding of the subject material and could just take the MCAT. About 5 years later I found a job where I wasn't starving and could afford more than 1500 calories a day and could make headwind on it. I'm going for the prerequisites next year but wish I could just take the MCAT and just be judged on that alone given how long it's been and that I will be 31 by the time it is all said and done. The local medical school requires prerequisites, so does the only other one I would consider going to (USUHS). It is very disappointing as not only was was told by physician colleagues to go to medical school but go for MD PhD. Experts saw so much promise in me and it was blocked by technicalities here and there and lacking this or that or falling behind, and faceless university and loan department bureaucrats. Such trifles that I thought a simple letter to these institutions at times would be able to address but these inquires went ignored or were rebutted with protocol being reinforced. So much time wasted over nothing. Years gone that I will never get back. It is ironic now that COVID has hit, these same institutions now are offering flexibility in admissions and not strictly adhering to their guidelines, meanwhile they told me to go pound salt.
