Are there really people on this board that believe improper use of apostrophes is a sign of intelligence? I've seen it argued here multiple times and the misuse of "it's" is becoming so common among pseuds I'm beginning to believe they weren't being ironic.

"correct" grammar is just an opinion, language can be used however you want. Only a brainless NPC who lives their life in planned out boxes would say otherwise.

That being said I wouldn't say it's necessarily a sign of intelligence to use "incorrect" grammar.

What the fuck is "reality" in this case if not the users? do you think some kind of god is deciding how language gets to be used, you say "laws" as if these are in the same vein as cosmic laws when really it's just opinions of people, not some hard coded law.

The way urban vs rural settings decide the evolution of the language is one thing (urban places abbreviate more and become more analytic grammar). This being said it's still not codified yet. You can even mark the change prior to invasions (which certainly has nothing to do w the individuals)

Many writers had terrible grammar, doesn't mean it's 'acceptable', but I think it has more to do with standards of education. WB Yeats' grammar was atrocious, supposedly.

/lit/ probably has the smartest people of any board or subreddit. Reddit is mostly bots/ai or shills/70iq retards. This is the only place left where genuine discussion of the classics happens even rarely in a non-rigid-academic type way.

I’m not saying everyone here is high IQ but I would put money down that 120+ is overrepresented on this board especially compared to most other forums online. Its why I come back here regularly. I think its mostly because no one gives a fuck about this place and there’s not much incentive to bot the fuck out of it.

Its all fine as long as the sentence is understood innit. Its really not necessary to convey a thought or expression in such an informal setting as 4chan and youd have to be autistic to care that much.
I wouldnt dare not use apostrophes at work or at a more formal setting but if you are using them constantly just chatting with your friends or on anonymous imageboards, you will probably come across as pedantic to half the people you talk to.

tldr its definitely not a "sign of intelligence" not to use proper punctuation but its certainly not a sign of intelligence to use them in such settings either, its just a sign of you being autistic.
