God is everything and is therefore nothing. I can't determine what type of value judgements God makes if he makes any at all or if he makes all of them, even contradictory ones, which is why even in belief in God I am functionally nihilistic. Any conception of God that has him as actively shepherding the world I see more as a lower divine paternal figure that is subject to death, folly, and natural selection like all life, material or not.

The point is that there is now a right way to do things, and perhaps its contents aren't necessarily that of say, a traditional Christian God. Nonetheless, this means that if there was a right way to act, what do you think it would be? If there was a purpose to life, what do you think it is? With this in mind, you are behaving in a "cosmically good" way, so to speak. It forces you to think on what really matters, even if the answer may be false. Do you think that if a god created the universe, would fapping to futa porn really be one of the things that would be a priority over other things? 99,99% of "theists" are larpers that have never had, and will never have any kind of spiritual experience. They have not experienced any miracle or the presence of anything and don't follow any tenets, don't do what they are supposed to do as per the religion, don't read scripture, don't pray, don't know almost anything, but still like to think they do just because they have a vague idea that they are "trad cath". Deep down they don't believe in god, but live as if they did, much like OP says.
