I would assume it’s pan-Africanan and this stage is nascent to be honest. Audre Lorde, Sylvia Wynter, and Sadia Hartman outline what I consider a basis for Afro-futurist (the concept oriented with Afrocentric philosophies a a whole) thought. I recently attended (pre COVID this year) a lecture covering these topics as well. It’s essentially the latest step of black intellectualism but not necessarily flourishing with literature. With books like Fred Moten’s In The Break you can deduce the Afro-futuristic mindset from the ideas shown, but very little being written is outright calling it that. But I’m adjacent to several black art / intellectual circles and can guarantee you that the work is being done.

Maybe because a good amount of stories and history in africa is oral, very few african books get translated to english, Africans have little reason to write books (there are slightly more pressing issues going on than writing no?) and the rest are either in libraries, in an obscure ancient african language none of us know, or both.
