What does your dream bookshelf look like?

>> No.16524351

Why are women so obsessed by feminist books? They are usually poorly written, poorly thought out, they're basically non-entertaining fiction.

Why would anyone read that?

It's a weird sort of self-serving symbolism. They're capable of identifying "woman" with "me," so they feel personally glorified by it. They see books as something intellectual and authoritative, so by having "me books" they feel that they are validated. It's particularly useful to women who are unstable and constantly come up with irrationalities in their daily life. They know that they're not being completely logical, so it's comforting to them.

Men are sort of similar, but they don't identify along the basis of sex, and prefer things like politics and religion. They also don't idolize books per se, and are capable of differentiating good and bad books. Consider, for instance, how common it is for people to post pictures of political leaders standing amidst a library. Also consider how many people are incapable of respecting the scholarly value of books that disagree with them, on /lit/, for instance, people will attack both Marx and someone like Spengler, despite the fact that both are respectable, well-educated writers who wrote books worthy of serious discussion.

It's very strange that although this shelf has a Virginia Woolf, it has to be the feminist essay instead of one of her novels, which would definitely filter a pleb that reads the rest of that bullshit.
