Read about Buddhism and Shinto and start perusing their history. Once you understand the values in play, parsing Japan becomes easier and you can understand somewhat why and how they live the way they do, as well as what happened in the 20th century to them.

Are... Are you retarded? Are you literally fucking retarded? Why the hell would you even say that? Because it's an anonymous board and no one knows who you are? Do you not feel embarrassment? Do you not wish to kill yourself? Are you not going to say sorry, for saying something like that? Do you see all these people? They all think you're retarded now. It doesn't matter that you posted anonymously, they know that this comment - that very comment, has been written by a chromosome-less retard. They know that you are the biggest failure on earth and the death of you will only mean raising the IQ of this world. Please, I ask it,your and our suffering of your complete stupidity, of your lack of self awareness, and of your completely irrational judgement call to say such a completely retarded thing. My regards to your mentally ill mother and your brain dead father, for creating such an abomination as yourself. Remove yourself from existence.

When I went, Osaka was super based but that's because my weeb friend who fully fluent lives there and is friends with a bunch of middle aged Japanese alcoholics so we drank shit-tier convenience store liquor and had a great time talking and fucking around. Osaka in general has a really fun and authentic vibe (Kyoto and Tokyo were overrun with Australian tourists and Kobe was kinda dead) but what the fuck do I know, I don't speak more than a few words of Japanese and have only been once.

Westerners have an idea of the separation of form and essence that isn't really present in Japanese culture.
To allow me to go on for TWO FUCKING SECONDS, what I mean is that a Westerner might recognise that someone has been deeply influenced by Chinese or Arabic culture on a deep, intellectual level and has internalised many cultural ideas that are exactly that - ideas.
But Japanese culture is unique in that it doesn't have a strong separation between form and essence. Their spiritual ideals are perfect rituals that don't really carry a hidden meaning (afaik). I'm badly versed in much of Japanese culture, so IDK about shinto, but their Buddhism's most iconic thing is maybe the zen ideal of just sitting. I could go on, but I will not. My point is that to be influenced by Japan means precisely to start doing tea ceremony and wearing kimonos. Things that Westerners regard as "superficial" but are really what it means to be Japanese, and it's ignorant waitu piggus not getting that Japanese culture doesn't have this division between form and essence. So the Weeb has actually correctly grasped Japan's culture and the naysayer mocking someone for wearing black lipstick and making bizarre gestures is actually ignorant.
Another way of saying this would be that Japan is a nation of weebs.
To be Japanese is to be an incel weeb creep with no deeper understanding of the culture and an obsession with the outside trappings.
This clashes with the Western view of the world wherein to understand something you need to understand it "deeply" by getting at the "real" "essence" and "ideas" of the culture behind the obvious superficialities. Japanese culture doesn't work like that. A man is the room they're standing in. A policeman is a policeman because of his uniform. The highest ideal of meditation is literally sitting down and that's it. There's not a second, hidden meaning like we assume and look for as Westerners. In this sense, the Weeb more directly becomes Japanese than the analyst.

Gomenasai, my name is Ken-Sama.

I’m a 27 year old American Otaku (Anime fan for you gaijins). I draw Anime and Manga on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Japanese games. (Disgaea, Final Fantasy, Persona series)

I train with my Katana every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is folded over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my sword license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Japanese fluently, both Kanji and the Osaka dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Japanese history and their bushido code, which I follow 100%

When I get my Japanese visa, I am moving to Tokyo to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become an animator for Studio Ghibli or a game designer!

I own several kimonos, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Japan, so I can fit in easier. I bow to my elders and seniors and speak Japanese as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Wish me luck in Japan!

Based and truepilled.

Thats basially what Hearn said in Japan an attempt at interpretation. Ritual has been so deeply rotted into the culture, without clashing ideas that things simply are. There is no deep penetrating secrete that seperates this truth from another, a japanese girl acts the way she does because she does and there is not some secondary reasoning as to why.

Expat in Asia here.

I have noticed that Tokyo seems to attract the most autistic expats by a long distance. It's a magnet for spergs who think they'll become Japanese like their animus and that jap women will 'understand' them in a way white women don't

Then they end up marrying at 4/10 local and realising they have to actually engage with Japanese culture, and that it's not all temples and swords

To continue this point, Japanese culture also attributes souls to objects. In a way, there's not a subject/object division that we have in the West - you just have objects with souls.

A classic weeb example might be a katana. A sword begins inert, but through use, acquires a literal soul or life energy. It extends to haunted shoes, ideals of painting, poetry etc. The ultimate aim, in so much Zen buddhsim, is to collapse the distinction between a subject and an object - samurai will be told to treat the sword as an extension of their body, ninjas will be told to cut through people as if they're inhaling a breath.

It represents a very peculiar kind of ego-death, almost a cosmic nihilism. It's why the aesthetic of a ritual has so much meaning - it's as important as the ritual itself. There's no "deeper" meaning because there's no meaning which humans can really grasp.

Not really answering you, just expanding on my take. It's not a uniquely Japanese phenomenon - Joyce has a great very similar excerpt on it in his aesthetic theory at the end of A Portrait.

Yes, which means that anime reaction images are permitted anywhere, as is use of jap word memes. That doesn’t mean that anime should be discussed on non-anime boards and it doesn’t mean that weebs as cringe as OP can’t be insulted for how weeby they are.

Have you read;

The Geography Of Though By Richard Nisbett
And Intimacy Or Integrity By Thomas P Kauslis

It goes into the comparison between Western and Eastern cognition and philosophy.

What you said is what the research and philosophical comparison has shown. Systems thinking abd praxis dominates Eastern thought, whereas Western thoughts is dominated by reductionism and analysis.

In regarding communication and understanding Eastern culture is high context, whereas Western culture is low context.

I noticed when I did Eastern Martial arts, years later when I got into cross cultural analysis, I realized that a lot of Westerners (even ones who trained under Eastern 'masters') were reinterpreting customs and relationship dynamics through western eyes. E.g. Sensei and Sify were ideally father-son style relationships, but IME when westerners adopted it, it became more of a master-subordinate relationship.
