Do Kafka trigger you?

I read the metamorphosis and basically got filtered from second part onwards, especially at the end. Now reading the trial and I like it so far desu. Will check out The Castle next.

what exactly was the issue?

many of his short stories make me uncomfortable even after multiple reads

my current read is the castle. The 2nd half of Metamorphosis is his family dealing with this new issue and his sister’s sad relationship with him as the family sees him more and more as a nuisance

I find him comfy where others seem to find him depressing or emotionally taxing to read. He can also be very funny

did Kafka ever transcend being, anon?

He triggers me in the sense that his works make me realize the modern world is a Kafkaesque nightmare.

>> No.16516982

Kafka is fantastic. He’s one of those authors that the material itself is a joke not yet understood and it takes a while for it to hit, like when you realize why a joke is funny days later in the shower, and once that happens even thinking about the story will make you smirk. His prose is unassuming and his subject matter isn’t really “entertaining”. It’s that kind of self reflective inner uncomfortableness. A sepia tone put upon the world until you realize the world always looked like this. When I first read him I went in expecting things, and that was my fatal flaw. Why would you ever expect anything?

Why does he unironically look like a goblin/imp?
What's with those demonic facial features?
