Hey, could someone share a Bolaño Chart or a recommended reading order. Thanks.

Don’t have a chart but I’ll try to come up with a quick guide.

start with By Night In Chile first. if you like that move on to Amulet. If you want some short bites instead read Last Evenings on Earth. if you want a larger expansive narrative dive right into Savage Detectives. its a true masterpiece. by this point, if you love everything about his style and havent been bored by anything then you will love 2666.

Dipped. Also smoked. Talked about nicotine addiction with a friend (he is now at my oblique front right). I have less to say. I listen to the ambiance. Someone says “horse apples” and “morning sunshine.” I hope my friend (who is not in the state area) will look kindly on my poems. He has an MFA; he should have wonderful critiques. Maybe poetry is what I should do. Better than this “novel”, probably. But this could be good I guess. “This should do it...and now...”
Most are on their phones. Two out of four. Fifty percent. All of us are on electronics. I wonder if Beatrice will sleep over. What if she kisses me by the beer refrigerator. What a movie moment. This should be a movie, totally. I'd like to see a screenwriter take this on. Ha. Haha. Ha. I have no reservations for them like I do you, dear reader, dear publisher, dear editor. Especially the editor – my, my, this must be a headache. Or is it relieving? Why am I asking – you can't respond. You don't even technically exist until the moment manifests itself. I have a slight pain in my neck. Luckily, there is no ukelele. Seinfeld was an overrated show.
There is no music. I want to change that. STOP. Whatever. I didn't get the music playing. I wanted to remember the STOP. I got the music working. I played Never Meant by American Football. I should drink more. I don't usually stay up this late. The music helps. I love this song. It reminds me of when I was smoking weed in my car with my (now ex)girlfriend. I was so worried she hated being with me then. We're listening now to a Death Grips remix of Never Meant. Rather, it is a fan mashup. We're all surprised at how well it works. The TV turns off for a half a second and there is audible dissatisfaction from the acquaintance to my direct left.

Bolano has written too many short novels. So start with distant star and then pick up either 2666 or Savage detectives, read everything else between these two works. I personally liked third Reich a lot. So you could start with that too.

Anon’s method is much more effective because by Night and Chile is phenomenal and hooks everyone into his writing. Most people who we are trying to convince of reading Bolano get daunted by SD’s size

I'm literally a Hispanic chad like Bobby B. I have read Bolaño's oeuvre (yes, even his shit poems where he and his son take a crap or whatever). I understand every Chilean and Mexican cultural reference in his work by default without having to read 400 meme books like you problably did. You can't even spell his name. My opinion >>>>>>> your opinion.

>> No.16490193

Doesn’t matter when, but make sure to read his book, “Nazi Literature in the Americas” at some point. It's one of his most underrated and best books. It's also not that long if you’re not in a position to read his 1000 page novels at the moment
