>read ebooks exclusively for at least two years now
>visit grocery store
>I notice that it has a small section of books
>stop and open a book
>immediately think to myself something like "This is so easy to read; zero strain, or buttons to press, or UI, or screen to swipe, or internet connection. Wow. This is truly effortless to read and manipulate."
That's that for ebooks, I think. I did not intend to compare them. I was thinking about my groceries. It was an unconscious "that book looks interesting", and because I was so acclimated to reading from devices, the surprise contrast between that and the print book was so striking and enticing that I do not know how I could ever choose the ebook for quality of life now.

Enjoy reading in poor light conditions, or when the font is too small or has uncomfortable style, while I easily customize these things on the fly.
>buttons to press, or UI, or screen to swipe
Whoa you learned how to turn the pages with your mind? I guess you also really enjoy the comfortable experience of holding a paperback brick that requires physical effort to stay open, and has pages falling out of it by the time you're finishing the book. Real next gen shit.

I am a luddite myself, but even I primarily read ebooks, buying physical copies only of those that I wish to collect. All arguments like "oof pressing the buttons is too much work" are just plain stupid, this technology is the equivalent of the printing press for our times, I have read such medieval and early modern works finding which in physical form would have been very difficult, and expensive as well, and unlike as from a library, I have these books with me forever, and unlike physical books, I get them for absolutely zero money. Also I have read books illustrated with good old illustrators like Dore, which wouldn't have been possible for me otherwise, either because of difficulty in finding the suitable editions, or their being too expensive. Your arguments against ereaders are the modern equivalent of "I could never read printed books, I always want my books to be unique, with the thought that a scribe spent so many hours hunched over in candle light just to prepare this volume for me", or "lmao look at that poorfag reading that mass produced printed book, that's what separates them from us patricians".

I got a iPad mini with some app and I just scroll. It's so easy to literally scroll through a book. No buttons. May access the index to jump real quick between places but other than that, no bookmarks needed or keeping track. The app remembers all of it.
I don't highlight, take as much notes but my experience has been about the same or better.
Also, easily got a 100+ book library of absolute bangers just from downloading them. You people know how expensive some of these esoteric shit is (philosophy)?

I used to travel a lot for work, and other than exploring where I was in the evenings, my only activity in shitty hotel rooms was reading.

most ereaders these days are touch, literally easier than turning a page
>internet connection
you only need an internet connection to download the book, afterwards it can be on plane mode forever. Since I pirate most books I don't even need to connect it to amazon, just transfer the books to from my computer.

>Another ebook vs physical book thread

midwits think it is a question of either/or and will either read all books in ebook format or buy every single book they ever wanted to read; the obvious solution which would have been clear to anyone with a modicum of intelligence is to consider various factors like convenience, availability, purpose etc. for a book and buy or download accordingly

Idk what it's like in other countries, but I assume Australia is more expensive than everywhere else as usual, so I just download ebooks for free to save money. The only place I've found a book for cheap was at an antique or second hand store, which is fine when you want to read Shakespeare or Tom Clancy, but a terrible place to go to look for something specific. Otherwise I try a bookshop and spend $25 minimum for one book.
