If you don’t have a familiarity with Saussure you’re gonna get very little. The books basically 40ish pages of dense theory followed by essays that apply that theory to cultural objects. The theory portion is heavily based of his previous work Symbolic Exchange and Death

If you want a real good intro to Baudrillard his book Lucidity Pact is his easiest. S&S is one of his denser texts, Impossible Exchange is an easy-ish read to. He moves past Saussure pretty early on, his book after S&S, Fatal Strategies shows his beginning to get past that.
