I read them in a single sitting on a drive to New York from southwest PA and back. Passenger of course im not chad enough to drive and read at the same time. It was a really really good read, but i did get very tired of the constant descriptions of the flowing green hills and towering mountains with a flower approximately 79 meters on the south face type writing.

That's pretty cool. I wanna do that. Or stay up all night reading it while camping.

I told my friends that I refuse to watch the movies until I read the books. That was like 20 years ago. I should probably get to it.

Just listened through all the audiobooks while on a long hike. Really enjoyed the first and third book, the battle for Gondor was some of my favorite writing. What’s with the appendix though? Why list all these irrelevant lineages? It was kind of frustrating.

I pretended to have read the books in middle school and then some asian who actually did read them publicly proved I didn't by quizzing me on the plot. It was humiliating because and I have never spoken unless spoken to since

Yes and if you haven't read the Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales you don't actually understand the Lord of the Rings.

I read them when I was 13. Tremendously enjoyed them at the time, but hardly remember them now. I plan on reading them to my kids one day.
