What does /lit/ think about death?

I know a great many of you will be tempted to try to brush this off with cynical or aversive comments that completely deny the reality of every single person's impending doom, so please-- refrain from attempting to derail the discussion. Death is so fucking scary that it's hard to imagine without your chest tightening up. So, philosophically, how does it fit into the grand scheme of thing?

I think it's a transcendental limit and that by drawing out the subject matter of the world makes us aware that only one experience is present.

It's the price one pays for consciousness, awareness, the ability to play with, manipulate, and be manipulated by symbols. Where does it fit? It doesn't have to fit because it's precisely that which makes room.

Death is both the most amazing and most frightening thing ever. When compared to life, it represent true freedom, yet because we have no reliable way of knowing what happens after death, leaving us completely unprepared, we fear it more than anything. Of course, in addition to fearing pain that might come with dying.
I just hope I die peacefully in my sleep.

Life is the Father, but Death is the Mother, the Life-bringer. She's the one who spins the great wheel of matter, bringing bodies together and tearing them apart again and again. She's the one who strips us of our fears, our misery, and of our joy; what is there of this world that Death cannot take? And yet without Her life is cancer. She is irresistible, inescapable: we, Life's seed, will one day flow into Her womb. Live a year, a dozen, a thousand, a billion-- She still waits at the end. We fear Her, stave Her off, cling to Father. I don't want to go, God I don't want to go! PLEASE I DON'T WANT TO GO MOTHER PLEASE MAMA NO

But Father will hand us to Her one day. BUT I DON'T WANT TO GO She will take me NO PLEASE Where I will go? NO I do not know MAMA PLEASE I'M SCARED

Are rocks alive? I like to think so. When will Mother take them? Is there a rock heaven? A rock hell? Or are they doomed to DADDY HELP ME PLEASE I LOVE YOU PLEASE MAMA NO cycle forever? If so, am I DADDY doomed to the same fate? Will I also cycle forever GOD PLEASE from form to form? That is MAMA NO MAMA NO MAMA NO romantic in a sense DON'T TAKE ME FROM THEM PLEASE

I will die someday. That is the only thing that is certain. I am curious as to what MAMA FIVE MORE PLEASE MAMA FIVE MORE ILL BE GOOD JUST FIVE MORE lies on the other side MAMA I LOVE THEM SO MUCH IT HURTS

My faith tells me that I will reincarnate if ITS EMPTY MAMA PLEASE ITS EMPTY IM SCARED MAMA PLEASE I do not reach enlightenment. In that case, I guess I'll be born from Death, crawl out of her womb into Life's arms, where I’ll play until I am handed back into my Mother's waiting arms. MAMA NO DADDY STAY I don’t like the idea of moving on from this cycle though. The idea of permanence is odd; only God is permanent MAMA JUST A LITTLE LONGER PLEASE ILL BE A GOOD KID THIS TIME PLEASE MAMA PLEASE LISTEN

In any case I’ve sinned, and I will keep on doing so MAMA IT’S DARK and I want to go though this again

MAMA PLEASE NO MAMA PLEASE

I almost died once. It was agonizing but I learned that you can be prepared. I would say it is easier to prepare for your own death than those of others. It is almost a responsibility to do so, so you can leave something to people important to you when they need to grieve.

I have also watched many others die. It is almost always humiliating but peaceful when it is over. Often, it appears relaxing, especially if the person has been suffering greatly.

Even when horrible, death is a natural process. The way people are, they view it as losing a game and so they either can't accept losing when it comes or try to convince themselves they've won (they are "going to heaven") but there is no heaven nor hell. There is only disintegration and reintegration with the Earth. Parts of you will live again and parts will stay dead for eternity. I am content with that.

if there is a platonic realm
death will be like getting off the stage
the spirit world would be elevated, all the good things here
we would miss things like food, love, nature, the bonds, the sights
we would probably be given deals to come back
probably be told we still have much to learn before we can return home.
but it is important to remember this intermediary place is archon controlled. it is a fake afterlife.

I always pondered about the ones who have died and have been brought back. They usually say there is nothing. That it felt like the best sleep they have ever had. Makes sense, as a child I had a near death experience. At the moment of impact I felt like what I assume it feels like to run a triathlon, I just wanted to sleep. The voices kept saying not to, and try to open my eyes but it felt so good to close and give in to the tiredness.
