16448229 No.16448229 [Reply] [Original]

>Let’s start with my ideal world – the world of thousands, preferably even tens of thousands, of neocameralist city-states and ministates, or neostates. The organizations which own and operate these neostates are for-profit sovereign corporations, or sovcorps. For the moment, let’s assume a one-to-one mapping between sovcorp and neostate. […] Let’s pin down the neocameralist dramatis personae by identifying the people who work for a sovcorp as its agents, the people or organizations which collectively own it as its subscribers, and the people who live in its neostate as its residents.

>A Neocameral ‘neostate’ is not owned by its residents or its agents. Its ‘monarch’ (or ‘CEO’) is an executive appointment. (90% of all confusion about Neocameralism, and Neoreaction in general, stems from a failure to grasp this elementary point.) Note: ‘subscribers’ (plural). More coming on this immediately.

>Every patch of land on the planet has a primary owner, which is its sovcorp. Typically, these owners will be large, impersonal corporations. We call them sovcorps because they’re sovereign. You are sovereign if you have the power to render any plausible attack on your primary property, by any other sovereign power, unprofitable. In other words, you maintain general deterrence. […] (Sovereignty is a flat, peer-to-peer relationship by definition. The concept of hierarchical sovereignty is a contradiction in terms. …) […] The business of a sovcorp is to make money by deterring aggression. Since human aggression is a serious problem, preventing it should be a good business. Moreover, the existence of unprofitable governments in your vicinity is serious cause for concern, because unprofitable governments tend to have strange decision structures and do weird, dangerous things. […] (Nuclear deterrence (mutual assured destruction) is only one small class of deterrent designs. To deter is to render predictably unprofitable. Predictably unprofitable violence is irrational. Irrational violence is certainly not unheard of. But it is much, much rarer than you may think. Most of the violence in the world today is quite rational, IMHO.) […] General deterrence is a complex topic which deserves its own post. For the moment, assume that every square inch of the planet’s surface is formally owned by some sovcorp, that no one disagrees on the borders, and that deterrence between sovcorps is absolute.

Wouldn’t be a terrible place to live, but there are definitely economies of scale in terms of military might, so there would need to be some sort of arrangement for mutual defense, and the bureaucracy would grow from there until we had something resembling modern nation states.

I totally disagree with Moldbugs conception of the American system as "clerical oligarchy." As someone who supports unironic clericalism in the form of intergralism, I think that "finacial oligarchy" does a much better job at describing America's elites.

>> No.16450485

>>16450434
To put it in Spenglerian terms, there are both forces active in American politics. You have the financial class as degenerative inheritors of nobility and you have the intelligentsia (media, pundits, university professors, etc.) as degenerative inheritors of the priesthood. Both are not exclusive categories but degrees of being which may overlap. America is a clerical oligarchy insofar as the dominant ideology is not shaped by the financial class but by the extra-institutional intelligentsia.

>>16450626
Yes and no. In medieval Europe, the priesthood also was not a distinct identity from nobility. It overlapped with it. But there was still conflict within the system, it's not smooth. The financial elites are not acting entirely in a financially optimal way, they are dependent on the moral sanctioning of the intelligentsia through media projection. The financial elites may own media channels but they do not produce ideology, they merely recruit ideologues that may morally sanction their financial agenda but not necessarily so.

The only thing Moldbug is uniquely useful for is memeing "read old books" into existence and giving us "Cathedral". That's it. Absolutely nothing he says cannot be obtained by just reading old books. Half of what he says is just literally quoting Carlyle anyways.

>>16450684
People have a problem wrapping their heads around this idea of "put things into place and just let them happen". I think it's a linguistic issue, there is no good clean way of describing that phenomena, it's all very unwieldy. Rupert Murdoch wants poz on TV, so he hires people to make that happen. He isn't personally running through casting lists to make sure every program fits some byzantine gay-nigger quota, he just needs to give money to the right people and let them do their thing.

He didn't choose the term. It comes from the Cathedral vs Bazaar software development styles. The former is top-down to serve a specific end. It's very good at achieving that end, and results in software hyper-polished towards that end. The latter views software as a sort of amorphous blob that doesn't have any one end. It's very good at creating a overall agreeable software with little bugs and high QoL (from a programmer's point of view). All Moldbug did was work this model into something usable for politics.

If we actually look at who is in power, we will, of course, see that the Cathedral is actually a Synagogue. Many of Europe's finest Synagogues were actually built within other buildings, so a Synagogue being hidden within a Cathedral is completely apt.

Because he's a goy, he likes to hear himself talk, and never realizes how stupid he sounds. Because he's a Jew, he can't abandon a losing strategy. He has to double down every time someone laughs at his bullshit.
