Some have attempted to reconcile Nietzsche with Christianity. What are your thoughts on these attempts? I'm most interested in the work of Thomas JJ Altizer

Is there anything of interest here, or is it just people who want to have their cake and eat it too?

What do you mean by “people who want to have their cake and eat it too”?

Nietzsche is a pretty popular philosopher and generally perceived as cool, and Christianity is a big religion a lot of people have positive feelings towards, yet Nietzsche and Christianity are largely at opposition to one another. Are these philosophies serious, or just people who want to call themselves both Nietzschean and Christian?

idk, a lot of Neitzches earilist followers were rather active rich protestant Americans who tried to synthesis the ideas of neitzche with their beliefs. Its actually kinda ironic that his first "fanbase" was largely chrisitan.

>niieche isn't christian
hown't so?
>overcoming
christianity teaches us we're fallible creatures, our ontology to be molted in exchange for a higher one
>overman
literally just jesus christ
>will to power
christians believe in free will and that we must use it
>eternal recurrence
afterlife, stop regretting and accept god's will, some christians view hell as a place where the subject lives his moments of guilt over and over again for eternity
