Gnosticism is a theological modality that is rooted in Nobility (derived from root: "-gno"), that is --in noble lifestyle, which is actualized in the mediatory motion of optimization of: oneself, the world, and this kosmos; gnosis consists in the total --physical, mental, spiritual-- synthesis of knowledge --through reception of God's grace, with direction toward God's plenitude; this can only be done with a root in Nobility, hence the reflected/common etymological root.

This, gnostics were always the narcissistic kind of people who needed to feel special and regard everyone else as inferior to themselves, the religious equivalent of "everyone else is a robot except me". The church rightly recognised how evil and dangerous this was and did a great job at culling it.

I studied at a catholic university (engineering) and they even today take steps to make sure gnosticism is kept in check. Literally first week we had a big lecture with our rector warning us (even the faculty of engineering) about the dangers of mysticism and gnosticism, which still permeates the church even today. He spoke about how attractive the idea is to the more intellectual types to separate themselves from the masses through trying to interpret hidden symbolisms in the doctrine of the church and thinking they are doing religion "better" than just a normal person who worships christ. It was weird to me to see just how deep the cut mustve been and still is for them to be giving this kind of lecture even today.

this is better than the typical gnostic's understanding, since you clearly made note of an 'aetheric body' (assuming this is basically the same thing as the subtle body split in vedanta), although it still isn't logical to say that a supposed hylic is lacking entirely in this element, or that a psychic has any less of it than the pneumatic (in quantity)
the soul is also clearly first in principle, the subtle/aetheric body would be second, with the gross body being a third division, so it's impossible for the third to even exist without the existence of the prior two. the invented hierarchy more or less serves as a moral justification for people that are born into some kind of materially poor existence, like retardation or a bodily disability, or are stuck permanently in a lifestyle that would not allow for a disobjectification from the body

How do I know of which category I belong? In a way I feel like a quest for knowledge is ridiculous, you're more likely to find the ramblings of someone who fooled himself into believing his own lies and fantasies than to find any hidden knowledge. All I can do is open my mind and soul and absorb all knowledge I stumble across.
