I adored Rousseau's Confessions and saw plenty of myself in him but I think that's just because of how accurately and honestly he portrays the conflicts in all of us. It's not him, but how he presents himself.

When I read "Eureka" by Edgar Allan Poe I got this overwhelming sense of peace, like if I died everything would be OK. Years later I learned that when he wrote it he was "finally ready to die." Pretty fucking spooky if you ask me!
