>Philosophers spend milliena writing thousands of pages, arguing relentlessly with each other over semantics and whatnot in a an attempt to unveil deeper truths about the universe.
Nothing to show for it.

I mock philosophy from time to time here to piss people off, but in all seriousness philosophy does have a purpose. Science has its purpose too, and an important one, but that doesn't mean philosophy is useless.

Intensily fascinating equation.
It is also the only physical law that is irreversible. I. e. time always has to flow from the past to the future.

Only applies to a perfectly closed system; which is not verifiable on a universal paradigm.
Ontologically justifies Boltzmann Brains as a more probabilistic state of being.
Metaphysically doesn't address the energy/order/disorder themselves, where it comes and why it is; just that order decreases without an absolute origin and state of maximal order (thus it only applies to closed systems and not universal systems). At best you get a sharpshooter fallacy about "A few seconds after the Big Bang"; which avoids the origin question.
Theologically it's tantamount to worshiping the God of Decay.

Overall it's scientism used as a midwit crutch to justify nihilistic atheism as a worldview.

Like most people who have never studied philosophy, you labor under the delusion that it is somehow different from science.

Thank you for proving OP's point, retard. In the time you spent demonstrating that you're a midwit, you could have actually learned something.

Entropy. The change in entropy is always equal to or greater than zero. The only exception is perfectly reversible states, which don't happen in reality (you can get arbitrarily closer to this, however).

so dollars are a measure of energy production? What's your point? Who would ever dispute that energy is real? Pretty much 100% of the time philosophers blab about economy its through a Marxist register, which is explicitly materialist.

I agree. I am interested in the free energy principle and the way Karl Friston is neurotically applying it to every aspect of life. I didn't dig that much into the papers, but I am unsatisfied by the grounding of his claims. I would like to understand how it can be linked to serious philosophy of science & mind. And the FEP is mainly about entropy so...

Every physicist who ever mattered had a classical education and most of them maintained a serious respect for philosophy that endured for the rest of their lives.
Also, the only reason you think philosophy has had "nothing to show" for the last three thousand years is because you're pathetically uneducated about what it is and what it's for.

Anyone claiming entropy reveals any deep truth about the universe is, without exception, a midwit and/or undergraduate (an obvious example: >>16363219) possessing all of the arrogance and none of the wisdom that comes from learning bits and pieces of mathematical or physical concepts. Thermo, just like quantum mechanics, just vacuums up pseudoscience retards.

>> No.16364421

>>16364376
This is also true. Entropy is not that interesting of a concept, stat mech is such an unbelievably boring subject that it is largely indistinguishable from materials science in any context other than where they get funding. Thermo and stat mech textbooks regularly include jokes about how the foundational scientists who began their fields had a really bad habit of killing themselves.
