>always wanted to read more but had no willpower or concentration
>finally pass a threshold and start reading a bunch of history, philosophy, and literature
>think its interesting but continue on with my life as normal while blitzing through good books
>get through 100+ classics and start feeling that there's a change happening inside me and that the way is open to become a better human being

Does this happen to anyone else?

Yeah but reading 10,000+ pages of quantum physics wouldn't make me feel like a better person. I would just be more content if that was my interest and hobby.
