>you're just projecting
>you hate others for what you hate in yourself
>have you ever considered that you might be gay because you think that [insert political stance here]?
>the term "pathological" and its abuse
>everything can be traced back to sexuality
>you think "x" because you have mommy/daddy issues/subconscious bias

How do we combat the vulgar freudism that our culture has been steeped in for decades now?

>>you hate others for what you hate in yourself
This one is absolutely true, not just about hate, but about contempt and in general what people choose to criticize. And it's specifically things about yourself that you hate but that you have buried and refuse to look at. It's also sometimes subtle, in that the thing in yourself is only analogous to something you hate in others, so the resemblance is not immediately obvious.

Freud didn't come up with this though, people have been saying it for centuries at least, Id bet there is a mention of it somewhere in classical texts too.

So I hate murderers and rapists because i'm supposedly a murderer or a rapist? Whoa, such an applicable logic that surely hadn't come from a flawed and fallible perspective.

No, but there may be something in the fact that you felt the need to signal to people that you really "hate murderers and rapists" (how heroic). Wow oh gee I also hate [moral taboo in general]

There exists in you the same impulse to rape and murder as exists in the rapist, yes. By rejecting him, you reject those parts of yourself.

he isn’t wrong when it comes to projection. you can’t separate your prior experiences and thought processes from any observations that you make. anybody who sees experiences the world creates it, just as much as it already exists. the trick to winning is not to give a shit if you’re projecting or not

>> No.16340877

>>16340836
Those two are completely unrelated. Casting the first stone is about questioning whether you're in the moral place to begin with to make such judgments; you don't want to cast a stone because you hate people who cast stones.

Freudism is not Freud. The Oedipus complex isn't even a sexual idea, using the modern understanding of sexual. But that doesn't stop midwits from name-dropping it as if it were an important insightful idea

His best thesis was that religion is a comforting lie and the only reason man refuses to dispense with it is the fear of facing reality as it is without a celestial parental guardian to shepherd them through danger. Our culture needs more scrutiny of illusions, starting with the most ridiculous, religion.
