Reading is the closest thing you can get to being inside someone else's head. It doesn't take much skill either. Men have been trained to enjoy isolation and distraction in an age of masculinity equating to the individual and all that corporate horseshit from the enlightenment era applied as propaganda.

Women don't like to be alone even when they are alone, thus they read.

YA fiction literally isn't literature, it's the equivalent of watching Family Guy and calling it "Kino".

They read easy shit. When I read a visual novel, I don't consider it the same as reading literature. But when these bitches read a YA novel, they act like they are reading literature. Their bookshelves look like a middle school book fair. It's pulp. It doesn't count.

1. Most teachers are female and force the young boys to read books they hate.

2 The way reading is taught in schools today was literally chosen because boys hate it. Boys used to get better grades than girls in reading tests, so schools switched to a different method that puts girls at a relative advantage.

3. Boys tend to prefer non-fiction, or if they read fiction, they go for quality over quantity (LOTR over Harry Potter).

For once I agree with /lit/. YA is literally not art, is just a mass produced product which the only goal is to sell as many copies as possible. That's the opposite of the goal of art.
