Pretty based grandpa, now it's up to you to know what to do with his legacy.
I have something somewhat similar with my own granddad:
>born into poorfag family, has to stop studying in middle school to get a job
>works for years as a train conductor but still wants to study
>starts going to night courses while still having a full time job and a family, being insomniac helped
>slowly transition to more technical jobs and ends up as an engineer and member of the French CNAM
>even get a PhD in electrical engineering
>took 13 years of night studying in total, now works with people from all the great schools
>works nonstop, very strict about academic success for his children
>helps designs an electric plant in Africa, never mentions it, his family only hear about it years late
>travels to Senegal, spend some months with the native, hunts game with them
>by the end of his life, owned a Jaguar and had amassed a small fortune, still lived rather soberly
>retires and finally stops working
>dies of heart attack within 2 years
>has his name mentioned in History of Electricity in France

In the end he was a hardass insomniac worker to the bone, I guess retirement wasn't for him. I was 9 years old when he died, I still miss having known him sometimes. Especially since I also pursed scientific studies. At least I found a copy of his thesis, so I'll get to read it.
