Small gene pools are good for both health and aesthetics, take Iceland for example. Iceland, Sardinia, Japan, and the Ryukyu Islands are some of the healthiest and longest-lived populations. Ashkenazis, despite their population being constrained to the point of inbreeding resulting in various inherited diseases, are long-lived and high IQ.

It's also worth noting that "diversity" in the case of those empires never meant forced mingling, but rather multiple ethnic groups getting a place of their own within the empire's boundaries - nobody in Rome shipped millions of Egyptians and Syrians into Gallia, Italy, and Germania, then forced those completely alien peoples to live in the until then etnically homogenous districts of the gauls, the latins, and the germans in the cities.

Successful countries become diverse because people from poorer, shittier countries immigrate into successful homogeneous countries to take advantage of that country's pre-existing success.

All historical precedent suggests that diversity will ultimately destroy the nation state where it occurs, it's just that the process typically takes one or more centuries to happen. By the time this takes place, the culprits who are responsible are long dead, and most people don't know history well enough to put two and two together. It's not a coincidence that the safest countries on earth are also homogeneous countries. Even the safest state in the U.S. is one of the most homogeneous.

They all had the same religion and values structure. The reason the United States is falling apart is because the white boomers who let non-European immigrants in thought that they would embrace Western values and that they were hard working. Instead, we now have the children of those people, who don't care about Western values, aren't hardworking, are interested in undermining the institutions that made the United States exceptional, and who actively resent the descendants of the white people who built the United States into what it is. There's a certain irony to all this though. The very system that non-white people moved into the United States to exploit will eventually collapse because of their presence and their dismissal of concepts such as the right to self defense, property, equality under the law, free inquiry, and free speech. Put most simply, when you import people in from the third world, you get third world living conditions.
