I really wish I had a study... Hell I wish I had a room...

But here I sit, alone on a makeshift bed, after the loss of my job and apartment. In the care of very loving and understanding parents who want to see me succeed.

But here I sit, no job or girl, thirty one years of age, reading books to pass the time

I think I just made myself sad writing this...

I'm sorry to point it out, but ductless splits are not /lit/ no matter how many books you stuff into that room. The only suitable heat sources are fireplaces and their variants (kachelofen, stoves, etc), or radiant heat from physically present radiators. In-floor radiant is also impermissible.

As for cooling, the room should be designed appropriately for the climate, no minisplit or forced-air AC needed. You should rarely need to do more than open a window, or at most turn on a fan.

I also shouldn't need to point out that overhead lighting is not /lit/. Should anything in excess of lamps be needed, wall scones would have sufficed. To be quite honest family, it's sad to see someone who's ostensibly read many books be so lacking in taste.

I mean I assume his job doesn't require extensive references to books and reading is a leisure activity (as well as music). That doesn't make it McMansion-y, which is a word you're throwing around seemingly without any idea what it means. McMansions are marked by cheap construction, poor design choices, and garish fixtures and decorations. None of that is present here. You can say it screams bourgeoisie, but overall the construction and decoration of the room is pleasant. And he has books out and music on the piano, so clearly he isn't just letting the room collect dust.

I agree that a well-used study is aesthetically pleasing (I always liked seeing my college professor's offices because of this), but that doesn't make this some sort of facade.

They're great. Kinda ugly with a certain mindset, but once you've adjusted they're pretty aesthetic. So long at least as your table frames have a similar color and texture to it.
Also, the braces on each side have a lip for the board to set into, so you never risk bowing. Altogether a great investment, since I got these for about $40 apiece.
