Is it hipster to hate Ayn Rand? Or is it just common sense?

>> No.1629471

Why does everyone hate her anyways? I've never read any of her books, but from what I have heard and read, objectivism is a pretty cool idea.

I mean, why should my hard work and struggle be used to help those that choose to make sheep of themselves?

because we don't live in a meritocracy dumbshit

Work belongs to the public sphere. Therefore, if your labour does not contribute to the public, it is not work.
You are an inferior being.

Well I guess outside of societal relevance it's a great idea. As far as being a human is concerned, though, what a person works for should work to benefit them, or at least that's what I believe

>> No.1629496

>>1629489
A person cannot work for the benefit of himself, because that is not work. Work is construct of society for the betterment of society as a whole.
In Greek society the artisan who only laboured towards his craft rather than the market had no influence in it.

If I'm told to think something, I'm inclined to think the opposite.

The more people telling me not to read Ayn Rand, I just might do it.

this is a valid question if every single person on the globe had equal opportunity to do hard work

PROTIP: we don't

I've only read Anthem and it was shit, so I guess read Atlas Shrugged. i doubt that will be good either.

>> No.1629541

I went to read Atlas Shrugged. But just reading the contents page made me sad. I think it's common sense.

This board started with nothing but pro-Rand threads
Know what happened?
People read her.
Right wing types fell for it. Left wingers don't.

>>1629500
The question has been answered. Now you define "hard" I work hard, but I'm not going to get anywhere in life at this job. I just heard a story about city workers getting laid off. The right wing talking head said those jobs will go to "private" workers. So minimum wage firefighters. But just remember, if they WORK HARD they'll somehow make a decent living... No wait, they'll get laid off in favor of a high school drop out.
Rands paradise.

Genius!

>> No.1629957

It's both. It's common sense because her writing isn't very strong and it's hipster because... well, bitching about any popular work of literature (especially on 4chan) is the most hipster thing you can possibly do.
